KDRY AM 1100 is San Antonio’s First Christian radio station. It has been family owned and operated since 1963, and is currently on its third generation of ownership.
KDRY was granted a license by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to broadcast from the city of Alamo Heights, near the downtown area of San Antonio, Texas. In 1963, the license was for 1,000 watts, daytime signal only, on frequency AM 1110. Dr. Sam Morris was the driving force to build a radio station that would have a Christian preaching and teaching format.
In 1982, KDRY was granted a license by the FCC to expand its signal strength to 11,000 watts of power and move to 1100 on the AM frequency. The effect of this was signal strength that allows us to blanket South Texas including the cities of Austin, Corpus Christi and many others during the day and 1,000 watts covering primarily San Antonio during night time hours.
KDRY airs many well-known national and local Christian radio programs.
